AR in a Museum

Digital technologies can make the past accessible
and tangible in a spectacular way. But how can they be integrated into historical spaces in a non-disruptive way
?
The Robert-Schumann-Haus in Zwickau commissioned the studio for infinite
possibilities to plan and produce a historicizing exhibit with
augmented reality. A modern XR headset was hidden in a laminated historical
stereoscope
.

A photorealistic avatar of Robert
Schumann was created in Hamburg: as historically accurate as possible, from the exact side parting to the
traditional felt slippers. With the help of motion capturing he was then animated in the
birth room and can now be experienced in action
through what appears to be an old stereoscope.

Press and audience applauded the installation. The positive feedback still exceeds our expectations.

The Freie Presse Chemnitz writes, for example, “It is definitely worth taking one or more looks at the ‘resurrected’ Robert yourself.”
