NODE switch

What is the future of hybrid festivals?

Publication & Research

NODE switch is a project of Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm and NODE Verein zur Förderung Digitaler Kultur e.V. As part of NODE switch, a team of curators, artists and producers from the digital art and creative coding scene is working on the future of international hybrid festivals.

Gloria is a long-time member of the NODE team in various roles including Technical Director of the Pop Up Exhibition (Node17) or Creative Producer (NODE20). For NODE switch Gloria brought the studio, here especially Julian Kamphausen, into the team for research and publication on the topic of hybrid festivals.

The project evaluates events of the past three years and derives principles for more accessible and artistically exciting formats, examines the technical infrastructures used for their openness and develops concepts for mediation and moderation in complex event settings.

In collaboration with Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm, we are testing and experimenting with tools, discuss formats and reflect on the processes necessary for implementing hybrid projects on-site and in existing institutional structures.

For this project we had the honor to work together with the University of Applied Sciences Mainz, especially with Alexander Roidl, and to accompany the hybrid music performance of the BBB_'s technically and in programming.
